Chinese Pond Heron

This bird was standing very still by the edge of the water. I knew that if I went any nearer it would fly away. So with the inadequate 4X zoom of my Canon Ixus I tried my luck. As you can see I was lucky to the extent that I managed to record the encounter. However, the quality of the photos is poor. Nevertheless I was very lucky to have seen this bird as it has very interesting colours. If I am correct in identifying this bird as the Chinese Pond Heron, Ardeola bacchus, then I would add that its current plumage is for the mating season. At other times this bird is greyish in colour. Wow, what a discovery.
