Woodpecker perhaps

I have to relate this incident about a baby bird that was both amusing and sad. Amusing because this little bird was pecking continually on the metallic casing of this lamp. I think only a woodpecker would do something like this but on a real tree. Sad because it made me wonder why its mum did not teach it to differentiate between a real tree and one that will cause it to hurt itself such as a lamp-post.
